blackbird

Blackbird singing in the dead of night
Take these broken wings and learn to fly
All your life
You were only waiting for this moment to arise.

This was written by the Beatles as a clarion call against racism. The Blackbird symbolized the African-American people and its broken wings were the oppression against them.

This song is still applicable to society, but not just to African-Americans. This song shouts out to every corner of society where people huddle because of oppression. Every race, every gender, every age, every social class, there will always be people who are marginalized.

The most oppressive people can be the ones being oppressed themselves. Let's all take our broken wings and learn to fly.
